No, that is NOT what I said. What I did say was:
Learning from the books only and claiming that is EQUIVALENT to real
world experience is BAAAAD!
That is what we have WAY too much of! "I read a book, so I now have
learned everything I would have by working for 5 years." Give me a
break! The two are FAR from the same.
I have nothing whatsoever against book learning. In fact, I probably
read 200 to 400+ pages a week myself just to keep up. However, I do NOT
claim that something I have read in the book gives me any ability to
actually DO anything in the real world. But, if I take what I learn in
the book, apply it in real world situation, AND I am able to get it to
work in a manner similar to what I learned in the book, THEN and only
then, can I claim any experience even remotely related to my book learning.
