The Security+ was revamped and I recommend to anyone who would like to pursue the CASP. I just achieved that cert and it was up to par with the CISSP and CISA that I took.

They are all valid.

I don't think anyone is bashing CompTIA. I think some are simply stating

the Security+ isn't held as highly as some others. However, with CompTIA

redoing their security+ test either last year or this (can't remember

exactly when) it will be interesting to see if it gains a little more

ground. A+ used to be considered nothing as people could have certified

with legacy technology, but since moving to CE status is quickly gaining

ground as a decent entry level certification since it means you have

current knowledge.
