Hi,

To answer your first question, you can subscribe to the Mark Alert service
on www.domaintool.com. This service allows you to register a word &
subsequently it alerts you whenever a domain gets registered which has the
word registered by you (http://www.domaintools.com/mark-alert/). Sometime
back it was free, don't know the status now.

For your second query, I think it is not possible to go ahead and buy all
domains which are similar sounding to your bank's name. There will be
hundreds of combinations possible. In fact many phishing sites will have URL
in which domain name will not be similar to your bank's name but bank's name
will appear somewhere in the URL (ex - www.online.com/banking/citibank.htm).

Thanks
Abhishek

Subject: Monitoring Domain Registration

Hi,

I have two questions on domain name registrations

1. Is there a free online service where I can get alerted if somebody
registers a top level domain similar to my bank's URL ?

2. How do you tackle this problem of spoofed domain name
registrations. Should you go ahead and buy all domains which are
similar sounding as your banks just to prevent a phisher from buying
it ?
