Hi,

I had a similar experience with aircrack-ng. I was dumping traffic
from an Alcatel (Thomson Speedtouch) AP. aircrack-ng reported
WPA/TKIP, but I was seen the IP address too. So I try to connect and
it worked without any authentication! I?m not sure, but I guess that
the AP sends from time to time a beacon with WPA/TKIP and then kismet,
aircrack-ng, etc. report it is protected. Where windows may ignore it
and not even try to use encryption.
