I was kind of joking, but if you want to investigate the feasibility of
a WiFi virus, I think this is *not* science-fiction.

Most people use the "hibernation" feature of their laptop. This also
means that your virus does not have to worry about surviving a reboot.
In my case, I use my laptop during conferences, where there are about
100 laptops in a 200m range. Then I use it on the plane way back home
(and I am not the only one on board). Then I use it at home (about 10
WiFi networks are detectable from my bedroom, some of them do not even
use WEP). Then I bring it back to the office, where I attend meetings.
So IMHO it is nearly surprising that existing viruses do not include
"ad-hoc" networks detection and infection :)

The Trifinite group masters this technology, they call it "BluePot".
