There seems to be a lot of missed information about Apple computer.
Apple has always been more than just a desktop computing environment.
Before OS X, there was Apple Unix (of course a BSD variant) which was
sold as a server for Macintosh networks. That is gone since OS X. But
the disk utility included with older Classic Mac OS releases could
always format a disk to HFS (then HFS+) **and** A/UX.

Web Objets is Apple's offering in e-business; it ships with OS X
Sever. I believe that Web objects was used to build the first Dell
on-line store. They also own File Maker Pro which has recently
released a server edition. For some reason Apple PR has simply not
done anything with this part of Apple. I believe the company has more
depth than it is given credit for.

I guess its the seemingly contradictory state Apple finds itself in;
a hardware manufacturer better known for their operating system than
for the hardware they make.
