engineers.
Job Description:
* Support Sales team as a technical resource in both pre and post sales
role
* Demonstrate the product effectively to customers and provide technical
information as required
* Support the Engineering team by providing feedback in the form of bug
reports and feature requests or changes
* Channel feedback on customer requirements to the Product Management team
* Provide training for customers as required
* System Engineers may be required to perform installations, troubleshoot, and set up the company's own security product(s) and as well as potentially assist customers with other network and security product configuration
* Provide training for other Sales Engineers on technical aspects of the
product, demonstration techniques, and information security topics as
required. Employee may be asked to present this training in many forms, to include oral presentations, and written documents
Requirements:
Hard skills:
* UNIX (Linux, Solaris) and Microsoft (NT4, 2000, XP) skills. Advanced
user to admin level. Knowledge of software installation, patching,
system troubleshooting, some performance tuning etc.
* Oracle database. Knowledge of concepts and some commands; basic DBA skills and database tuning knowledge would be ideal.
* Network Infrastructure. Architecture & maintenance. Knowledge of Cisco
technologies (routers, switches, VPN) a plus. Knowledge of standard network and application-level protocols.
* Security. IDS and firewall basics, such as 'what do they do?', 'how
they work?', 'how they are deployed in production environments?',
basic knowledge of encryption algorithms and transmission security
(SSL, SSH, etc) . Working knowledge of various network security
devices and authentication servers. Must have installation/management
experience with at least one industry standard firewall and
IDS. Hands-on experience is required!
Soft skills (just as essential as the above!):
* Pre-sales skills or at least good people skills
* Excellent oral & written communication skills with industry topic
awareness
* Superior presentation and white board architecture communication skills
* Ability and desire to meet people and promote the product
* Ability to quickly fix software problems in high stress environment
* Must have ability to integrate products into a large or small
heterogeneous networks
Other position requirements:
* Minimum of 1-3 years Information Security experience is desirable
* 50-80% travel (occasionally shooting up to 100%!). Most travel is regional, but international might occur as well
