Position: Security System Administrator
Location: Linthincum Heights, Maryland, United States
Type: Permanent F/T

Network Engineer Top Secret Security Clearance Required
Ciphent, Inc. seeks a self-motivated, organized, ambitious individual to serve as a Network and Systems Engineer for a number of clients. We seek a talented candidate who knows how to get things done and will motivate others to do the same. You will work closely with our Principals to lead your team in completing high-profile, unparalleled quality projects on time and within budget.
The overarching objective of this role is the protection of information that is stored or managed across a number of varying complex environments. As a Network & Systems Engineer, successful candidates will have experience in the development, design, implementation, and analysis of local and wide area network solutions. They must possess a methodical approach to their work and exude confidence in communicating in a logical, meaningful and consistent manner. The ideal candidate will possess intimate knowledge of the complexities and challenges surrounding Information Technology Security as it applies to communication and network engineering. A majority of the solutions will include security products and components but hands-on security experience is not required but is preferred. Qualified candidates will lead by example, be self-motivated, have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and experience interfacing with clients. The role requires an extensive information
security skill set and a comprehensive understanding of security threats, risks and processes. Any information security experience in the Government sector would be advantageous. An active Top Secret Security Clearance is required for consideration for this position.
Scope of Responsibility
Implementing and configuring software and appliance-based products in large enterprise and Government environments
Working within organizations to develop and implement effective network, product, and application solutions while adhering to security best practices, government and industry compliance standards
Evaluating, designing, advising, implementing, and integrating products and controls into various platforms, network devices, and systems
Performing knowledge transfers and training clients regarding security awareness
Conducting network security assessments
Serving as a subject matter expert to clients and Ciphent staff
Communicating recommendations to clients in both written and oral form
Maintaining security monitoring and reporting appliances; leading and analyzing security reporting
Maintaining knowledge of and communicating changes in security regulations, best practices, countermeasures, compliance, and threats
Preparing technical designs as well as high-level flowcharts and schematics
Coaching other consultants on new products and techniques
Troubleshooting and resolving network issues
Aiding in the awareness of standards and best practices, as well as enforcing these standards
Requirements
Top Secret security clearance required for consideration
Must be authorized to work in the United States
College degree or equivalent experience with 2+ years of experience working in a complex network or systems engineering role required
Preferred Technology Expertise
Strong understanding of TCP/IP network architecture and implementation is a must; ideal candidate will have worked with complex TCP/IP networks
System administration experience on any of the following platforms (e.g. Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux, HP-UX, AIX, Sun Solaris, Novell, etc.)
Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills
An understanding of a wide array of server grade applications to include Lotus Notes, Exchange, DNS, SMTP, IIS, Apache, SharePoint, Active Directory, Identity Management, Patch Management, LDAP, SQL, and others
Superior problem-solving skills when it relates to IT issues
Experience with client interfacing situations and projects
Experience with McAfee security products (ePO, VirusScan, Host Instrusion Prevention, IntruShield, Secure Web and Email Gateways, Policy Auditor, and Foundstone)
Additional product experience with ArcSight, LogLogic, Symantec, SourceFire/SNORT, Nessus, Juniper/Netscreen, 3Com TippingPoint, and CheckPoint a plus
Cisco certifications CCNA, CCDA, CCSA or CCIE are nice to have
CISSP, CEH, MCSE or GIAC are a plus
