Command Line Interface for Windows Server 2003 Zipped Compression Feb 11 2004 11:07PM
Boles, Jeffrey B. (chronos ou edu)
2003 has the same built-in GUI based Send to Compressed Folder "ZIPPED"
feature that Windows XP has. Is there any command line interface for
this feature? I've looked through the CLI Interface Guide for Server
2003 but can not find anything other than the ability to mark files and
folders as compressed, doing only NTFS local compression, not creating
actual zip files.

I've moving some files around with scripts over the network, and I would
like to be able to compress them before transfer. I know there are
other tools that can be used, but if there is an interface for it seems
simpler to use the built-in compression features in 2003.

Obligatory security related item: If such a CLI exists for the feature,
can you also set the password for the zip file from the command line?

Any help would be great!
