Subject: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
Has anyone had time to install and test the new Windows Server 2003
Service Pack 1? I haven't seen or heard much of anything on it... But,
I have been a smidge on the BUSY side...
Id have to say it's a lot like XP SP2 works great on an integrated install
and horribly breaks stuff on an upgrade.
I applied it to a non essential server Friday and it locked up in the middle
and rebooted. It corrupted NTLDR and my event logs so it's going to be
difficult at best to diagnose.
I made a slipstream CD and tried to reinstall the server via the dell open
manage server assistant CD and it can't find amdide.sys; probably due to the
open manage proprietary design.
I then tried the slipstream CD standalone and it worked perfectly, in fact
the server is the most responsive I have ever seen a 2003 server. Looks like
I'll be going back to a server based RIS flat image for server setup, at
least for now.
