4.5p1 compilation under Solaris 9 SPARC - issues

First, Sun Studio 11 with OEM ld. GNU CC 3.2.3 with GNU ld
is further down. Any help would be welcome. Both of these
compilation sets build everything else on my box just fine.
openssh-4.5p1 # echo $CC
/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc
openssh-4.5p1 # echo $LD
/usr/ccs/bin/ld
openssh-4.5p1 # ./configure --pr...
