Linux Kernel CIFS Transport.C Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
The Linux kernel is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with kernel-level privileges or cause the affected kernel to crash, denying service to legitimate users. This issue affects version 2.6.23.1; previous versions may also be affected. |
