Multiple Microsoft Product Gopher Client Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Solution:
Microsoft has recommended to block access to the Gopher protocol (TCP port 70) or define a non-functional Gopher proxy in Internet Explorer. It should be noted that it is still possible for an attacker to run a malicious Gopher Server on an arbitrary port on Unix and Linux systems.

Patches for Proxy Server 2000 SP1 and ISA Server 2000 SP1 are available. Microsoft has also released a fix for Microsoft Internet Explorer.
