A former Apple programmer promised on Tuesday to release a fix for every vulnerability publicized by the Month of Apple Bugs (MoAB) project, an initiative announced on Monday that aims to disclose a flaw in Mac OS X and applications for the platform every day in January.
Landon Fuller, infrastructure software engineer at game maker Three Rings Design, came across the Month of Apple Bugs Web site and decided to start releasing patches for the problems, he stated in a blog post on Tuesday.
"So, part brain exercise, part public service, I've created a runtime fix for the first issue using Application Enhancer," he stated in the post. "If I have time (or assistance), I'll attempt to patch the other vulnerabilities, one a day, until the month is out."
Fuller released patches for the first two flaws flagged by the MoAB project by Wednesday. The software engineer did not immediately respond to e-mail requests for an interview.
The Month of Apple Bugs (MoAB) initiative is modeled after July's Month of Browser Bugs and November's Month of Kernel Bugs, but focuses on a single platform. The two researchers behind the MoAB project said that vulnerabilities reports could include flaws in non-Apple products for the Mac OS X.
