Hasta la Vista, baby
John Leyden, The Register 2005-08-04

Virus writers have created proof of concept viruses targeting the scripting language behind prototype versions of Vista, the next version of Windows. An Austrian virus writer has published five simple viruses targeting Microsoft Command Shell (MSH), the command line interface and scripting language, in a virus writing magazine. None of these pieces of malware have been named as yet [How about phista - Ed?].

MSH viruses are akin to today's Batch viruses, though probably more complicated. Script viruses are generally as easy to defuse as they are to write, so I don't see MSH viruses being the next plague....

They're likely to be closer to .vbs viruses (btw why didn't MS just keep pushing their windows scripting shell instead of introducing yet another scripting language?)

Keep in mind that the legion of macro-viruses that terrorized outlook users for years were all script viruses.

Good Times.
