U.S. agencies get 'C-' for computer security

The majority of twenty-four U.S. government agencies continued to score sub-par grades in computer security for 2006, according to an annual report card required by federal legislation.

HUD goes from D+ to A+ in one year. HHS goes from F to B. Methinks the standards are too low if two gigantic agencies can leap that far in a year of effort. And it would be much more useful if some representative private companies were assessed for benchmarking and comparison....

I agree that this is largely a paper exercise, but it does show some degree of intent from the various agencies to do what they have been mandated to do. D+ to a C- obviously show minor improvement overall, but the movement is way to slow.
