So does this mean that if I use Firefox instead of Safari and don't visit porn, hacker, warez, or other questionable sites then I don't have to worry too much about this exploit affecting my Mac?

And since approximately 60% or more of the "Security Researchers" attending CanSecWest were using Mac...

Actually, Dai Zovi later clarified that the vulnerability appears to be in the Java support in Mac OS X, which would mean that it would also affect Firefox users.

If it was so real why did they have to lower the security settings to actually break in? And if it is java then it is more a SUN issue and not OSX or specific to OSX since it effects Firefox and possibly others....

As explained in the article, while the exploit requires some user interaction (just clicking on a Web link) that's a standard method of attack seen often on the Windows platform. Thus, it was considered a valid attack.

As for the Java angle, I did some research into that today and Dai Zovi expand...

This is laughable to see the appleheads try to look for an angle on how it's not an Apple problem. It's not an Apple issue, it's a Sun issue if it's in Java... Yea, that's the ticket!

I suppose it's not a RedHat issue if it's in the Linux kernel. Oh wait, maybe it's not really the linux kernel...
