Typical Microsloth stalling tactic. 2002 will see a litany of problems with everything they produce, probably more than the previous year.

The Redmond Shodware factory will use this statement as their excuse e.g. "look, we said we are committed to security...but it takes time", "...we said we ar...

They will do it, and, IMHO, in right way. They did good job with Win2K/XP, so security is just another step.

Holes in current products? Well, name the product which is perfect - I would like to know about this. So far I don't know - software is not perfect by definition (because it is "soft"). On...

Such a good job with WInXP in fact, that the FBI got involved, and issued a warning, and a strong suggestion to disable UPnP, just because MS didn't put in an error handler.

uPnP? Well, should I count all flaws in Linux kernel? I remember few, some were _very_ dangerous - one was kicked out friend of mine (small ISP company) out of business (someone spent few days on DoS against them).

So uPnP is only argument against MS and WinXP? Properly configuired system doesn't...

YOu said "They did good job with Win2K/XP, so security is just another step"...

They did? Please don't insult our intelligence.

Within a very short time, they discovered a fatal flaw in their "Plug-n-play" thingie. Need I say more.

IMHO they need to take that 100 mil, and start up a ...

I got 2 thoughts on this.

Great, about time, cheers for Billy..... The same dolts that want to control when users get to hear about security flaws now say they want to make a more secure product. Not telling me the lock dont work is not the same as makeing a good lock to start with or fixing t...

Gate's move is welcomed !!! But - can we believe him again one more time? 2002-01-18
Cause da devil is in da details...
Dear Bill Gates and Microsoft,

1st - fire your marketing department and advertising companies... and instead publish honest technology press releases, using an academic format, that are honestly written by your technology staff.

2nd - as you have a history of writing code yourself, you are awa...

Move MS's Security Team out of the Marketing department... 2002-01-21

Yes, it's a true fact.

If they would check their products for security holes before they release their products, they wouldn't have to have their Security Team under their Marketing team. Scary that it falls into place that way.

They are spending more time releasing Security Bulletins than fi...

Microsoft is serious about security. Their .net initiative will not have a chance without security, privacy and trust. Windows is full of holes and Passport was hacked in 30 minutes. How can MSFT build a transactional engine when all their products can be hacked? IT CAN'T.

Trust will happen whe...
