Sprint may be innocent - the redirection could be done by the hotels themselves at their own internal exchanges. And if the listening-in is done by the hotels' in-house vice team, this would explain how they can get to the caller's room before the girl who has been called....

From the description of the problem the only time folks don't get through is from hotels. The hotels route calls from the rooms through a PBX (usually at the hotel) and out to the local telephone exchange. Your hacker is not manipulating the public switched network, they are intecepting at the PBX. ...

It seems more likely that those numbers are blocked or diverted at the phone system in use by the individual hotels rather than Sprint's network....

It sounds like the hotel PBX's are being rigged.

"Clear out the hacks in our hotel PBX; Sprint and the PUC are coming by to test calls from a hotel room."

I imagine that if I had a stripper biz in LV, I'd pay a hotel big bucks to route all calls to my number.
