Again, what does all this point to?

The System Administrators.

Isn't it they're job to protect the network in the first place? Aren't they supposed to report to authorities?

I feel that this is sort of a stupid topic because of the fact that if you think about it, its the companies hacking themselves by allwoing people to do this and not saying anyhting....

Many SAs, particularly those w/ MS platforms, don't recognize an incident when one occurs, let alone know how to conduct effective incident response...hint: port scanning the box from the outside and comparing the results to a list of default trojan ports is *NOT* effective IR.

Is it just me, or does this article seem to be using raw numbers in an emotional rather than logical way (funny how statistics seem to be used this way so often in the media). No attempt is made to explain or clarify the statistics, they are used starkly for their shock value. What are they selling?...
