The average American moviegoer taking in the Matrix Reloaded this weekend will likely be wowed by the elaborate action sequences and dazzling special effects. But hackers who've seen the blockbuster are crediting it with a more subtle cinematic milestone: it's the first major motion picture to accurately portray a hack.

It's nice to see an attempt to portray real life hacks. Unfortunately, the fact that the movie takes place in 2800 A.D raises the following question : will people in the future be so "retarded" that they will use programs written in 2000 ? The 8 centuries discrepancy is too wide.

Tis obvious that you did not understand the first Matrix movie which forms the basis for the second. Tis noted in there that, When the Morpheus first introduces Neo to the Concept of the Matrix, that the timeline is established ie, late 20th century. I do believe that also Suspension of Disbelief is...

I don't see your argument to be proper.
She actually uses the exploit INSIDE the Matrix where it always is the time period
arround year 2000 and there is probably ordinary humans manging that server so the version is quit fit for the time. I think.
Not sure thougt.
Corect me if I'm wrong. :)

Jeez, watch the first movie again... the actual year according to the movie script is 2199. Additionally, as others have mentioned, the matrix duplicates our current time frame......

2800 might be the year in the real world, which based on the movie is argueably not real. But, it's not the year in The Matrix where the hack took place. The Matrix strives to duplicate our current day.

Actually, the year is not 2199. At this stage I would not hazard a guess as to what year it actually is. The Architect mentions 5 previous versions of the matrix, assuming 100 years per matrix, one could put it in the year 2700 or 2800.

If you create a WAN managed through tunnelling or routing, you still have a LAN, architecturally s...
