Okay, so the guy is "black hat" and thinks people are a "sell out" because they are working nine to five and not hacking banks for a living? What is this shit?

Sorry, but to criticize bugtraqs when you don't have the capability to find bugs yourself is just crap. And, selling out of WHAT? Let me ...

It is not that the author is promoting hacking banks, but addressing the fact that more and more hackers are, in effect, becoming 'sell-outs', for they are helping to catch and prosecute hackers. And it makes sense, corporate computer security is the anti-thesis of the hacker 'idea'. Greed is the ...

One simple question: What is 'wrong' with catching criminals that use computers as a tool or object of their criminal activites?

If your 'friend' breaks into XYZ corp, or ABC bank,

have they broken a law? Probably Yes.

If they have broken a law, and it is your responsibility

to bring them ...

Your reply is to a post that agrees with you, though the "elite" of the underground -- only ones whom truly use that term rightly do so jokingly... are not defined by Macromedia sell outs like Gweed, but rather by individuals like those found in cDc.

Its all about balance. There will always be good and evil. I for one, changed sides, and it wasn't just for money; I grew up, and realized there are better ways to do things. It's too bad Gweeds feels this is only way to stop the corruption. ...

What we are seeing here is a natural progression. Ex-hackers putting on "White-Hats", will only prevent "hackers" from using the tricks that they have been using for years. This trend is promoting growth in the industry....

I don't understand the association between anarchism and

hacking. It happens way too often. For those of us in

the underground community, we need to address issues that

are detrimental to the forewarding of our REAL and

useful causes. If you really do want change, start

acting professional...

cDc is a hacker group all of a sudden? Name one thing "The Nightstalker" ever hacked. Seems to me they were always a tfile group, hacking the media into believing that they were the lords of telecom+computers. Did they fool you too, friend?...

Methinks if we need a revolution, it should be in our hearts and minds, not a recycling of 60's "idealism". The former hippies now run the media, academia, government and business institutions....

I wonder if this 'sloppy' character mentioned in the article knows anything about a self-proclaimed member of H4G1S who virussed all of my vaxen and stole a great deal of my private security tools back in 1997.

The Revolution has been cancelled, folks. It wound up costing too much of our free time. I'd like to offer a little perspective on comments about "selling out" and such.

People who claim that someone else "sold out" usually fit a mold. This mold often contains words such as, "pithy, antagonist...

It makes no sense to rail against the corporate culture as if the good of the few were ever going to outweigh the importance given the good of the many. While the "elite hackers" run around snooping through corporate conspiracies and dropping the occasional news story into the AP's hands so as to "...
