Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2003-09-03

These kinds of suits are completely necessary and should recieve far more press coverage. Consumers are being targeted for buying perfectly legal devices and being accused of using them for illegal purposes without a shred of proof. DirecTV is following a trend that many corporations in the USA ar...

Just because the item is sold for illegal purposes does not mean it's gonna be used for illegal purposes if there is a legit reason for using such a product.

What you fail to realize, this coming from a guy who plays with smartcards for a legit purpose, is that the standard ISO (smartcard) progra...

Well I try to tell them that I had no use of trying to program nothing because I have no directv system. then they told me why did I not send the product back to get my money back. I sa...

"they could have bought the equipment from a reputable dealer that sells it for purposes other than stealing directv."

There is a price difference... Why pay more when you can buy this equipment cheap and then flash the atmel with your own LEGAL smartcard programming software. Free enterprise...

A corporation is technically a singular individual under law. Therefore, corporations are bound by law just as individuals are. Politically, corporations are given carte blanche by legislative bodies in large part because corporations fund political campaigns. In the process, individuals, especia...

I agree. If a merchant advertised a CD-ROM drive, using "Burn your own music with. Stop paying for it." I would not be influenced to purchase it based on this statement. I know what a CD-ROM can and cannot do, therefore I would purchase it based on my needs. The same thing goes for any smartcard pro...

Sounds like Sosa needs to go to jail. Trying to say that you bought a satellite decoder to program a medical computer is not credible. Wonder if he has any evidence of a marketed or usable computer?...
