Feds seek input on spammer sentencing

A formula that would sentence deceptive spammers to more time in prison for each e-mail address spammed is among the proposals under consideration by the presidentially-appointed commission responsible for setting federal sentencing rules, which this week sought the public's input on how to punish violators of the newly-enacted CAN-SPAM Act.

The cost of spam cannot be valued. You send some one spam how do you know that 20 other people have not done the same. Leading to the person deleting a critical email message because of a spamfilter mistake costing them a fortune. There is even a chance that the person would never find out.

Part of the problem is "Can Spam" just legalised the heck out of spamming. All the address collector needs to have the appeareance of compliance is change his return email account.

If we can't draw and quarter the spamers how bout shooting them at dawn

they sentence hackers and spammers to the same duration as child molesters and violent rapists. In today's United Internet of America ticking off a large corporation is as criminal as killing......
