All this really means to me is that I have to have a SPAN port on my switches available to Law Enforcement so that when they provide the necessary Title 3 order and associated search warrant, subpoena, etc. that they can plug a carnivore sniffer into the port and collect the appropriate traffic.

I think there talking about "NO SEARCH WARRENTS!" are reqired. We are dealing with an incidious regime that has no respect for civil rights, the 'Bill of Rights', the 'Constitution of the United States, the'Geneva Convention', and anything that stands in the way of their "NEW WORLD ORDER". Chech th...

This is NOT a new question or issue.
The problem with wiretaps is their abuse not their proper use.
As long as a statute can be tailored to "minimize" or prevent the invasion of communications that are lawful then who cares if the activities of criminals are captured and then used against the c...

Getting authorization to perform a wiretap or any warrant for that matter has become a complete joke. All that the investigator has to do is go to a 75 year old judge who knows squat about technology and say "that guy is doing something wrong, i just know it!" boom, drive through warrant issued. Whe...

Your point about the hackers compromising the system has merits, but I also think, terrorism or not law enforcement should have access to VoIp calls as they would regular ones. On the other hand the FCC ruling gave a rather blank check to Ashcroft, which I believe for one is not the correct way to ...

The belief that domestic spying is something new may be considered a naïve perception. My direct experience includes when I was refused employment due to my credit report. No interview, just a flat denial based on data I have no direct control over. Even with several erroneous items on the report, I...

One can hope that someone's lawsuit will find the courts overturning this bureaucratic agency decision and one can dream in the extreme that Congress, for a change, will opt to genuinely support personal privacy and our Constitutional principles rather than more and more of what results as small com...

I have some suggestions but most of them requires a critical mass...it requires holding our representatives accountable. We, the people, don?t ask enough of our elected representatives and to a degree they treat the citizen with contempt. I would not suggest that this behavior be treated with a simi...

The only way we as American citizens are going to beat easy-to-use wiretapping is easy-to-use user level data/voice encryption. Even though the user friendliness has come a long way, It needs to be so that joe-schmoe who can barely turn on a computer can have a transparent and total encryption setup...
