Defendant: Microsoft source code sale was a setup
Kevin Poulsen, SecurityFocus 2004-11-11

The Real question is in this article. Willy is accussed of selling trade secrets, but was the source code REALLY a trade secret in anyone who REALLY wanted it could have gone and downloaded it from any p2p network. I personally recall back in feb, and I can atest that anyone who wanted a link to tha...

Good grief. This is rediculous. I think the stupidity starts with him claiming he had the source code and putting that notice on his website. I think that the stupidity gets worse when a Microsoft agent contacts him.

Focus your attention on what is important and you will finally get what you w...

The reason why the other distributors havent been arrested is beca...

The one technical flaw in your argument is that he wasn't "selling" the source code. The investigator made a "donation" to illwill, and such donations are asked for to offset web hosting costs. As a thank you for the donation he simply provided an easily accessible link to download the partial sourc...

Correction, the "Donation" was requested before the link was provided, "Donations" are supposed to be voluntary, meaning the link could be downloaded regardless of an offering.

p.s. Why hasn't anyone said anything more on the Paris Hilton video the agent downloaded?...

don't take persons as an example, i know illwill and he's just a normal person like 1/2 of the net. This can't be real that he gets a 10 year long time in prison for things that 12 year old kids do about 200 times/person every day with some p2p programs. this cant be a solution, to just pick someone...

You know that once the source code is on the internet in a manner that everyone can get to it, it is no longer considered propriatary. (<-- did i spell that right?) One only needs to read up on the cyber laws to see this is a well known FACT. The only issue that I can see here is one where thay migh...
