It seems that Sophos uses several names about this malware, from their Press Release:

"First ever virus for Mac OS X discovered

OSX/Leap-A worm spreads via iChat instant messaging software"

At their description page it has been categorized as worm;

"Type: Worm"

This malware is one of the entries assigned to Common Malware Enumeration project database. CME List knows only four malwares published on 2005.
