Aren't the compromised banks and card issuers telling customers to change their PIN numbers NOW ?

Am I being naive in thinking that would be the quickest way to break a cloned card + stolen PIN number scam? Or did I miss something ?

I actually did get a letter from my bank terminating my card due to this. A new card was issued a few days later. I`m happy to deal with the inconvenience as opposed to the alternative....

B of A has cancelled my card and is issuing me a new one as there was some phishing on mine. I had left it at a retailer and I believe someone got my security code and went phishing. I don't believe B of A will honor my claim.3...

Debit card fraud WILL continue because there are no consequenses. I am for teh 2nd time a victim..it happpened last year and now this week...Last year I went to the police who basically said there was nothing they could do! Evidently, stealing someones debit card number and making purchases is not...

yes they pretty much said that they did not have to tell there customers that thier information was stolen in the first article loop hole...

Keep in mind that it costs somewhere between $3-4 USD to reissue a "plastic" (card). Although the big players (VISA, MC, AMEX) have verbiage in place to force banks and service providers to disclose and replace stolen cards there are instances where there is resistance. maybe people should think about where they use their cards. If your doing to trust your cards with companies that transfer info to a main server via wireless, encrypted or not... then its their own fault. ...

Not everyone has the security knowlege to know what is safe. Certainly retailers don't tell their customers what they do to safe-guard their information. Regulation is the key to protection. Quite simply, retailers should not be allowed to store PIN information or transfer it wirelessly without p...

I was the victim of Fraud through debit card on 2.25.2006.

They were able to get every cent of my cash in checking and savings, deposit fake checks, and then withdraw that.

Washington Mutual has been absolutely stonewalling me about getting my money back.

I have now submitted their forms for reco...

I'm going thru the same thing after losing my debit card except Bank Of America is telling me that those fraudlent transactions were authorized and posted correctly to my account. In-other-words accusing me as a liar and a theif!! I've reported to the police and requested the bank provide the info...

We are facing exactly the same problem with Bank of America. They have been consistently rejecting our claims. We have also filed a police report and trying to explore other legal options....
