One of my credit card companies will initiate a call to my home to verify when I have made a large charge. But they ask me to call a phone number that is NOT the number on my credit card or in my billing statement if I miss the call and they leave a message. Of course I refuse to call such a number....

+1. Absolutely agree with you here. "Due Diligence" has become very important when it comes to issues like this. Be aware of what you are doing and educate yourself (if possible) a little bit about what is happening in and around your world.
