Well at first I figured him to be an unskilled mass defacer but lately he has pulled off too many hacks on known secure servers such as secureserver.net (updaddy,godaddy,etc:) Ipowerweb and more.
Of course he would have to use a script on a server or botnet to do what he has done lately. Ofvcourse ...

Great.
This story is a wonderful example of how journalism should be responsible. Now, Brazil will try to out do what this Turkish group has done. Everyone will suffer and there will be another story generated, then the endless cycle of script kiddies will start again....

No, the thing is, there is no need to flame the Brazilians as beaten in what cannot even be called a race. That part could have been left unmentioned, not creating motive for further crime.

Well done to the turkish lad with too much time on his hands for pointing out the neverending - never amended flaws in the windows iis servers.
However what does knowing this information do ... nothing, those claiming that it will spur on the Brazillians to counter the score is just ignorance. ...

Okay, enough of all the useless and uninformed chit chat.
If this iSKORPiTX has defaced as many websites as they claim and on both Windows and Linux, ISS/Apache - HOW THE HECK is it being done and how to prevent it. I don't see any articles on the Web about that.

Mine was PUT /index.htm to plant the file using Microsoft+Data+Access+Internet+Publishing+Provider+DAV+1.1, to disable in IIS go to: Microsoft KB 241520, to disable webDAV and still allow frontpage access....

I recieved 1 defacement out of 10 sites I host. Server was win 2K, all services except essential ones are disabled, port 80 set as only port allowed for access. I show defacement came in from search engine scan repeatedly. Immediately after scan I open page, so this was not hard to track. I then sea...
