Interesting, but doesnt it seem that with a similar script and the support of even a small amount of ISPs one could do a more effective job by checking IP addresses and querying them against known sex offenders who DONT use their real name for myspace, but DO use a credit card or billing address to ...

Sounds difficult, and anyways, don't you need probably cause for a warrant? I know things are changing in the USA, but they haven't gotten rid of that particular control have they?...

Being a sexual predator should be probable cause enough. If they have a megans law making sex offenders register with local authorities and alert neighborhoods they move into why not expand that to websites as well.

Now you are getting into the realm of the "whatif" scenario that is more Orwellian than security minded. Yeah, but getting ISP's to cooperate by sharing this info is almost impossible, (or enough of a pain to make it so). There is also the warrant bit. How would you get one with just a vague generalization of the predator(s)?...

Maybe you mean "probable cause"!! They would need that if they were going about it alone without the help of Myspace. But here it looks like MySpace was willing to allow them access to their site so that they may capture this guy. If they voluntarily gave law enforcement and Kevin access then I don'...
