My bet would be on the clients running windows and those computers where compromised....

Several banks use (annoying but effective) two factor authentication. The U.S. government has some authentication running on mouse selection of a random display of alphanumeric/punctuation characters.

What stops brokerage houses do something similar? Customer convenience ?
