Perhaps someone can clarify something here. MS got 50 OEM partners over to Redmond to do reduce "the number of vulnerabilities shipped in its products"? Perhaps I'm being dense today, but what has OEM partners got to do with products being shipped with vulnerabilities? Shouldn't they concentrate...

Think about it. What do companies like Dell and HP install on systems they ship to customers? Crap loads of buggy dangerous software andd poorly written drivers ( think Broadcom wireless, Toshiba Bluetooth). MS has come leaps and bounds forward in security over the last couple of years. Their SDL is...

That's hopeless.

They'd rather train (their) designers and developers to develop secure stuff. Well, not that would be easy on such shaky foundations, but at least they'd give it a try....
