The authors of the paper actually briefly mention that the research seems to suggest shorting a stock is a good strategy (p.21 of the paper). well fact is, people are still putting money into, cause not all the people lose their money, obviously the first people that jump on it buy up their shares and sell it before price drops are making money, why else would these people keep doing it?...
