Just another smug security researcher looking for publicity by attacking Mac users instead of writing his own "secure" operating system to share with the world. No mention that a majority of security researchers at the conference are carrying around and using Macbook Pros! Hmm...can't be that insecu...

I don't follow the logic. Can you please point to a specific instance when researchers intentionally went out and "caused malicious attacks and mayhem on user's computers"? Encouraging people to attack flaws or find problems is not equivalent. I assume from your speaking in platitudes, lack of lo...

Actually, he made an observation over the inconsistencies throughout your sorted remarks, a ball you dodged by throwing a temper-tantrum to hide the fact that you probably didn't know what you were talking about.

To those "anonymous" users above that have an issue with this should take a look around. Was the "majority of security professionals use Macbook Pro's" one of those statistics made up on the spot?

If you own the Macbook 10 different ways will they give you a rain check for the other 8? There were plenty of 0-day bugs found in Mac OS X and other Apple endorsed 3rd-party apps during the Month of Apple Bugs. Proving Mac is utterly insecure...

Only use a Mac to draw pictures and surf the web? Most music and films you watch and listen too were created by artists using a Mac and Apple software. Scientists too. And yes, a lot of security researchers use Macbook pros, including Paul and Larry of the popular "Pauldotcom Security Weekly Podcast...

Has it occurred to anyone that Apple has weighed the pros and cons of responding to vulnerability disclosures and decided that it's not worth engaging the security community?

It would boil down to prospective investment into their future pool of consumers.
The Apple is still an underdog in terms and is being viewed as the up-and-coming next great thing - the iPod turned the tides in their favor. Emergence with Intel base has only sweetened the pool waters for those so...

As stated in the article -- if the existing 0-day OS X exploits are brought out into the open, it will force Apple to engage with the security community. Also, a contest like this finally puts a little empirical evidence into this (really tiresome) argument about whether OS X is relatively secure or...
