Easy, remember home depot? Just the buzz created by the negative publicity of the CEO getting millions will cause them to lose business. Perception is everything. If you look like you don?t know what you're doing, you probably don?t know what you're doing. Your turn will come. That?s not to say I wo...

The lion's share of the credit card situation can be laid with the credit card companies themselves. Transactions are not authenticated beyond perhaps a cursory glance at a signature. If every transaction needed to be authenticated so that the person requesting the transaction was indeed the cardhol...

being used to create NEW accounts, in which the

That's interesting considering they just posted greater profits from 4th quarter after they disclosed the breach. I think your survey didn't actually account for the fact that people want cheap deals and if TJX has them they will shop there. ...

To be honest I could care less whether or not the cashier checks for a signature because it is a worthless action. At the initial transaction level a simple 5 digit pin would be a huge step as it provides something you have (the card) with something you know (the pin). This is simple and fairly easy...

PCI compliance is a joke. We have had clients simply deny access to the IP of the originated scan to get by any issues after arguing that issues like XSS didnt mean anything. Also, PCI scans are just running Nessus. It dosent do squat for taking care of flaws in customized web applications which are...

The problem here is your typical small business owner thinks he is immune to the problems that large corporations face everyday. But in reality his small business, and his customers data, is just as much at risk. And is targeted on a daily basis. Its impossible to convince that business owner to do ...

This survey uses a poor methodology. It's easy to speak hypothetically and say "Well, of course I'd quit shopping there... DUH."
In reality, though, it seems to be a weak driver. A more accurate survey would've been one that measured how many customers *actually* drop attacked retailers. This ...

Sure. It's like some friends of mine who, indignant about reports of U.S. jobs being offshored to China, hotly said "That's it! I'm boycotting anything made in China." The problem, of course, is that practically *everything* is made in China nowadays. If you find something that isn't, it might...

Should read: Survey respondents say they will dump breached retailers.
How many actually will? My own survey says: Zero.
Prove me wrong....
