This is not really much of a win. While it's good to see sites like MySpace taking some action, sex offenders will just start using fake names and credentials, making them harder to identify. As for passing legislation to force sex offenders to register online identities, how will this be enforced...

This doesn't make much sense to me. Why not simply monitor their behavior? Or, block them from viewing users below a certain age, etc.

MySpace does nothing to validate the user info you enter. I can actually enter the same exact info using two different email addresses and I can have two account...

MySpace by refusing to release the information to the authorities about sex offenders, is helping Catholics sex offenders get away, just like when someone drives the car so that a Bank robber can get away.

I'm registered as a sex offender and even I think it's necessary for some form of monitoring the use of these networks.
