I don't know specifically about Black Hat but normally when someone comes to a conference to teach they are not an employee of the organization sponsoring the conference. They are performing a service. This holds true if they are American or otherwise. So the H1B thing is BS. It is very possible...

As many pointed out, the wrong tool was attributed to Dullien's company. Sabre Security makes BinDiff, BinNavi, BinAudit and VxClass. The article has been corrected.
