These "surveys" never fail to amaze me. Why do the people behind them always assume they are being given accurate information? Because that's the only way they gain validity for their work? They have no way to determine whether the passwords or personal information is accurate.

Agreed; I would be very surprised if even one of the passwords they were given was legitimate, or even the basis of their password creation....
