Just a simple word of praise. When i read intelligent, thoughtful, accurate, and well-written articles like this, it just makes me want to say "thank You". Your articles are always good. Loved _Incident Response_, too. It gave me a new way to think about security. :)...

www.vmyths.com has done several funny takes on the so called cyber-terrorism. Worth reading. I would add that any concept that's bandied about that includes the word 'cyber' is usually absolute rubbish, and that if the US wants to hunt down groups that shut down power grids or cause severe congestio...

If politicians don't create a ruckus now about the very real fact that our critical computer infrastructure is literally wide open to attack, it is my opinion that nothing will ever get done about it. What makes them run around like chickens with their heads cut off is that we as a nation really are...

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that there are less reputable security companies who throw around the word "cyberterrorism" in hopes of getting some of that homeland security cash that's floating about. In short, there's some less reputable people who have a cash motive to talk up "cyberterror...

Most "cyber-attacks" are invisible and simply don't affect people's lives that much. Code Red, Nimda, and Slapper were all a Really Big Deal to those of us in the computer security field, but who else lost sleep over them? None of my friends, that's for sure. Stories of computer attacks and "digi...

I've gotten several positive responses via email, plus those appearing here. I do appreciate them all, and am happy to keep beating the drum and sounding the call of "sanity" in this area.

As one poster said above, the problem is that the folks making national and corporate policies will likely n...

Another good article, RF!

Many people who know better prefer spreading FUD to taking action against the greatest cyber-threat of all - ourselves. As RF has pointed out before, "self-inflicted security" is our biggest problem.

From your article --

"Much of what constitutes the 'cyberterror threat' comes down to the poor management of systems critical to the security and viability of the United States. In other words, traditional computer security vulnerabilities, not legions of phantom 'cyber-terrorists.'"
