At the same time I was reading this article, here is what was being said on Lou Dobbs Tonight -

Good news on the job front -- that is, if you're an engineer and you live in Taiwan, where 3Com is hiring. The struggling networking company is cutting 1,000 jobs, mainly by closing its last factory i...

A lot of IT jobs (mostly back office, but then most IT jobs are back office) are moving to India, because there is a discontinuity between the costs of running a back office operation in India vs. running it here - and unfortunately for us, the discontinuity favors India. If India further stacks the...

I don't see how for example the set of firewalls that's protecting the local hospital's networks could be moved to India. I could see how these firewalls could be monitored remotely from India. However, if something is physically wrong with these firewalls, someone has to be there to fix them on the...

I agree 110% with you. It is simply just supply and demand. There are still plenty IT jobs in the US. There is simply not enough specialists to fill all of them. So of course the rate of pay is going to increase a little for IT here in the US. I just think it is bad timing with the terrorist movemen...

Of course, the cynic would say that companies will advertise these positions at low wages, then use the lack of applications as justification for bringing in more H1B visa workers.

Honestly, I don't have a crystal ball.

On one hand, I can see many US firms which do heavy heavy business internationally moving a large part of their IT back office ops to India while keeping elite, quick reaction teams available at key locations here. I can also see the same US firms keeping a...

This is true. It will hurt in the short run, but we as americans have proven to be resiliant. I think we need to get an attitude of what can we do now to provide solutions to meet customers needs. As long as we continue down that path we will always keep a dominance in certian key industries.

I'd say it would be a lot easier for a Russian Steven Michnik to social engineer his way to an admin password if his target was in Russia than if his target was in the US - if only because his command of English would have to be lot better than my almost non-existent Russian. And Russian organized c...

I expect that Malaysia has a bright future, as Malaysia is a conjoined twin of Singapore. I expect intra-ASEAN and APEC trade as well as trade with India to expand enormously over the coming years.
