A New York judge did the right thing last week when he threw out a USA-PATRIOT Act provision that forced ISPs to secretly cooperate with the FBI, and gave them no obvious avenue for appeal.

Doesn't the little provision struck down sort of pre-date the Patriot Act by like a decade or so? Wasn't it just amended slightly here? Isn't it overstating things a little bit to say a provision of the Patriot Act was struck down when the Patriot Act did not originate the provision?...

Why isn't each Government employee assigned a group of innocents to monitor 24/7? We could be embedded with a chip of some sorts and have cameras around our homes and outside. Then, if any of us were to break the law, they would almost certainly be caught and could be delt with accordingly.

I don't see why letting the FBI have more access to ISP and citizens is a problem. If you don't have anything to hide what are you worried about? Let's just keep on warning everyone when the FBI is coming so they can destroy any evidence before the FBI shows up....
