This is a great article. It is so true about job descriptions having not only the laundry list of sys admin skills, but also networking skills and security skills. It is hard for me to fathom putting together a job description like this and ever expecting to find anyone. That is unrealistic to me. ...

One of my previous companies used to provide me a lot of trainings and I served them for almost 7 years (that's really a lot of time in IT industry). The next company that I joined was absolute opposite and hence I didnt even work for one year even though the company was much bigger than the others ...

I think this is going to hit managers like a ton of bricks. The market is heating up and a lot of security positions are being posted out there.
Bottom line- invest in your people and you have a chance of keeping them, fail to invest and you can be assured of not keeping them.

A similar problem would be a lack of decent training. I worked with a medium-sized IT firm that offered training funds as part of their benefits package. The company offered $3000 per year per employee for approved training courses.
