They should either NOT put wireless networks in appliances or (especially) automobiles. Less secure would be an old-fashioned mechanical switch-- NOT software, and not buried in some chip -- to turn it on (since it should be OFF by default). Diagnostics can be done with temporary wired connections ...

I have to agree with the first comment. There's also a large financial consideration to the amount of storage and overhead one needs to run the Windows environment, whatever the "flavor"......

I Think Embedded systems being developed as task centric devices unlike the multipurpose computer systems.do not really make intresting targets for hackers.and they do impose sort of difficulties in finding bugs n exploiting by the virtue of platform diversity and compactness,lesser user friendlynes...
