On May 15, 2008, a federal grand jury Los Angeles indicted 49-year-old Lori Drew of O’Fallon, Missouri, on charges of unauthorized access to a computer, typically used in hacking cases. Yet, Drew's alleged actions had little to do with computer intrusions.

While I believe that what this woman allegedly did was morally reprehesible, the question of the ability of the government to prosecute is a little scary. Does this mean that to find out "What kind of dog are you?" I need to tell them my fast food eating habits and provide them with a real email ad...

Its a stretch to apply California STATE laws to a harassment case between two Missouri residents - not that you cant do it. I also note a few more cases. The scope of authorization may turn upon the contents of an employment agreement or similar document, a terms of service notice, or a log-on bann...

It's a very dangerous and slippery slope we fashion when the government wants you to go to jail for lying.

Freedom of speech should include lying, except in furtherance of a crime.
