Anti-spam tools should be adaptive to new spam and customized for each site's email patterns. This easy to use tool works with any mail transport and achieves these goals requiring no operator intervention after the initial setup phase. Star Added 2003-08-26 Star is a very fast, POSIX-compliant tar archiver. It reads and writes POSIX compliant tar archives as well as non-POSIX GNU tar archives. Star is the first free POSIX.1-2001 compliant tar implementation. It saves many files together into a single tape or disk archive, and can restore individual files from the archive. It includes a FIFO for speed, a pattern matcher, multi-volume support, the ability to archive sparse files and ACLs, the ability to archive extended file flags, automatic archive format detection, automatic byte order recognition, automatic archive compression/decompression, remote archives, and special features that allow star to be used for full and incremental backups. It includes the only known platform independent "rmt" server program that hides Linux incompatibilities. The "rmt" server from the star package implements all Sun/GNU/Schily/BSD enhancements and allows any "rmt" client from any OS to contact any OS as server. The GNU Privacy Guard Added 2003-08-26 GnuPG (the GNU Privacy Guard) is GNU's tool for secure communication and data storage. It can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures. It includes an advanced key management facility and is compliant with the proposed OpenPGP Internet standard as described in RFC2440. As such, it is meant to be compatible with PGP from NAI, Inc. Because it does not use any patented algorithms, it can be used without any restrictions. ModLogAn Added 2003-07-08 ModLogAn is a modular logfile analyzer that combines speed with flexibility. It parses the logfiles generated by several server-types (HTTP, FTP, mail, streaming, etc.) and other logfile sources (flow-tools, ipchains, PABXs): currently 24 parsers. It features incremental logfile processing and internal resolving, and is able the split (mass-hosting) and combine logfiles (clusters) internally. The output can be based on the internal template engine to generate your own look & feel. DeleGate Added 2002-03-27 DeleGate is a multi-purpose application level gateway, or a proxy server which runs on multiple platforms (Unix, Windows and OS/2). DeleGate mediates communication of various protocols (HTTP, FTP, NNTP, POP, Telnet, etc.), applying cache and conversion for mediated data, controlling access from clients and routing toward servers. It translates protocols between clients and servers, merging several servers into a single server view with aliasing and filtering. Born as a tiny proxy for Gopher in March 1994, it has steadily grown into a general purpose proxy server. Besides proxy, DeleGate can be used as a simple origin server for some protocols (HTTP, FTP and NNTP). Squid Added 2002-03-04 Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients, supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional caching software, Squid handles all requests in a single, non-blocking, I/O-driven process. Squid keeps meta data and especially hot objects cached in RAM, caches DNS lookups, supports non-blocking DNS lookups, and implements negative caching of failed requests. Squid supports SSL, extensive access controls, and full request logging. By using the lightweight Internet Cache Protocol, Squid caches can be arranged in a hierarchy or mesh for additional bandwidth savings. Squid consists of a main server program squid, a Domain Name System lookup program dnsserver, some optional programs for rewriting requests and performing authentication, and some management and client tools. When squid starts up, it spawns a configurable number of dns server processes, each of which can perform a single, blocking Domain Name System (DNS) lookup. This reduces the amount of time the cache waits for DNS lookups. Java Anon Proxy Added 2001-10-24 Java Anon Proxy attempts to provide a secure and scalable technical infrastructure for anonymous communication. GnuPG Added 2001-10-22 The GNU Privacy Guard (GPG) is a complete and free replacement for PGP developed in Europe. Because it does not use IDEA or RSA, it can be used without any restrictions. GnuPG is an RFC2440 (OpenPGP)-compliant application.
