It consists of a server that coordinates the work among several clients; the cracking in itself is done by John the Ripper. Ruby/Password Added 2003-11-12 Ruby/Password is a set of useful methods for creating, verifying, and manipulating passwords. It includes an interface to CrackLib, a library commonly used for checking password strength. It is intended to be used by system administrators who need to write Ruby programs that prompt for, generate, verify, and encrypt passwords. Mixmaster Added 2003-11-10 Mixmaster is an anonymous remailer. Remailers provide protection against traffic analysis and allow sending email mail anonymously or pseudonymously. Mixmaster consists of both client and server installations. Glub Tech Secure FTP Added 2003-11-05 Glub Tech Secure FTP is a command-line utility that allows FTP connections to be made using SSL. MixIt Added 2003-10-30 MixIt is a program which encrypts a given input file using a password and a level. Shifting and coding methods are used to make the input data unreadable. The strength of the encryption depends on the password, the level, and the length of the input data. A brute force code breaker, named breakit, is included for those who want to test the strength of MixIt. It includes features for unbreakable communication via email using one time pads and password books. nefu Added 2003-10-28 nefu (network fidelity utility) is a Unix daemon that monitors services over the network. It uses a "no false alarms" fault verification algorithm, and understands network dependancies. Natively-monitored protocols include ICMP echo (ping), DNS, HTTP, POP, NTP, IMAP, SMTP, and LDAP, as well as having facilities to execute external programs. Status pages are available via finger or the Web. MAT Added 2003-10-28 MAT is an easy-to-use network-enabled UNIX configuration and monitoring tool. It provides an integrated tool for many common system administration tasks, including backups and replication. It includes a warning system for potential system problems, and graphing of many common system parameters. MAT provides many of the tools a system administrator needs during the day, including DNS, NIS, Backups, and Replication. One can run a MAT command on many hosts at once. A simple editor window is provided which can modify a set of machine's configurations in one session. pixlog Added 2003-10-22 pixlog is a program used for logging info level messages from a Cisco PIX firewall. At this level, several megs of information can be generated per minute, so saving all that information to a file for later parsing isn't practical. pixlog works by sitting on FIFO, and parsing the data as it comes in. It can then write out what it has recorded, in HTML format. Pine/SSL Added 2003-10-22 Pine/SSL adds the ability for Pine to make SSL connections to IMAP, POP, SMTP, or NNTP servers. fauxident.py Added 2003-10-22 fauxident is a small Python script that will act as an extremely naive ident server, answering all ident requests with a consistent response (either ERROR or USERID). This can be advantageous on systems where running a true identd is unavailable, where it would be would be a security risk, or when masquerading firewalls are in use, where multiple machines are involved behind the firewall and running a proper ident system is not an option.
