It is based on a client/server model and on the ability to pass file descriptors between processes. sud permits you to choose your authentication method, and your effective credentials will be checked by using a Unix domain socket. Inflex Added 2003-11-17 Inflex is an email scanner which encapsulates your existing sendmail server setup. It scans both incoming and outgoing email and it does not alter your current /etc/sendmail.cf file. It can scan for email viruses, unwanted file types (eg. EXE, BMP, MPEG) and file names (eg. prettypark.exe). It can also be used to scan for text snippets within emails and to insert disclaimers into outbound emails. IPA Added 2003-11-12 IPA allows one to perform IP accounting based on FreeBSD IPv4/v6 Firewall, OpenBSD Packet Filter, and IP Filter accounting rules on Free/Net/OpenBSD. It supports limits for accounting rules, and limits events such as "limit is reached" and "reached limit is expired." It also has a flexible configuration file with many sections and options. Pathalizer Added 2003-11-07 Pathalizer is a tool for visualizing the paths most users take when browsing a Web site. This information can be used to decide how to improve the navigation of the site, and for determining wihch parts are most worth improving and keeping up to date. It generates a directed, weighed graph from an Apache log, but could easily be modified to analyze any list of events. Nessus Added 2003-11-06 Nessus is a remote security scanner for Linux, BSD, Solaris, and other Unices. It is multi-threaded and plug-in-based, has a GTK interface, and performs over 500 remote security checks. It allows for reports to be generated in HTML, XML, LaTeX, and ASCII text, and suggests solutions for security problems. nefu Added 2003-10-28 nefu (network fidelity utility) is a Unix daemon that monitors services over the network. It uses a "no false alarms" fault verification algorithm, and understands network dependancies. Natively-monitored protocols include ICMP echo (ping), DNS, HTTP, POP, NTP, IMAP, SMTP, and LDAP, as well as having facilities to execute external programs. Status pages are available via finger or the Web. Pixilate Added 2003-10-22 Pixilate is a packet generation tool based off of Libnet 1.1.0 (Older Libnet 1.0.x versions will not work). Pixilate generates packets by parsing a file that contains ACLs in either Cisco IOS format (using the -r option) or in Cisco PIX 6.2x format. Currently TCP, UDP, IGMP, and various types of ICMP packets are built with the appropriate source and destination for each rule. "any" as a source generates a random source address and "any" as a destination will send the packet to the user supplied destination (-d option). For more information, see the pixilate manpage. Pidentd Added 2003-10-22 Pidentd v3 is a much improved version of the original Ident daemon both in terms of speed, code quality and features. Features include multithreading, a "configure" script, startup autodetection, much clearer/rewritten C code, doesn't run as root after startup, has a configuration file and can be started from /etc/inittab (on systems using a SysV init). Autossh Added 2003-10-20 Autossh is a program to monitor and automatically reestablish SSH connections. It is similar to rstunnel (Reliable SSH Tunnel), however, it is implemented in C, and is easier to set up and use, especially for connections to multiple hosts. Autossh has been compiled and tested on OpenBSD, Linux, and Solaris, and should run without needing changes on FreeBSD and NetBSD. Webmin Usermonitor Added 2003-10-17 Webmin Usermonitor is a Webmin module that allows you to view all user connections to the system which are based on Telnet, SSH, or Samba. It is able to kill a user's connection or send a message to the user. Browse by category |
