Its functionality basically consists of the ability to listen for TCP connections on a given port, and, when it recieves a connection, to then connect to a given destination address/port, and pass data between them. It finds most of its applications in traversing firewalls, but, of course, there are other uses. It can run under inetd or stand alone (in which case it handles multiple connections). It is 8 bit clean, not limited to line mode, is small and light. Nsat Added 2001-10-22 Nsat (Network Security Analysis Tool) is a fast, stable bulk security scanner designed to audit remote network services and check for versions, security problems, gather information about the servers and the machine, and much more. Unlike many other auditing tools, it can collect information about services independently of vulnerabilities, which makes it less dependent on frequent updates as new vulnerabilities are found. BSDscan Added 2001-10-22 BSDscan is a light-weight port-scanner designed for the BSD operating system. It currently supports scanning single hosts, subnets, logging results, scanning ports in a random order, specifying a port range, and a speed option to only scan commonly used ports. FTP Scanner Added 2001-10-22 FTP Scanner will scan a range of IP address for any login and password you specify. For example: if you decide to use the following login and password: anonymous/anonymous and you pick 1.1.1.1 for your beginning address and 1.1.2.1 for your ending addres, FTP Scanner will scan all the IPs from the beginning to the end for anonymous/anonymous access. In this range FTP Scanner would be scanning 255 IP addresses. snplog Added 2001-10-22 The Simple Network Protocol logger consists of three daemon programs: icmplogd, udplogd and tcplogd. They log connects of the specific protocol via syslog along with the remote name and optional from an ident lookup. portchk Added 2001-10-22 Takes either command line input or file input and checks if a given port on a remote host is accesible. Secure Portal 1.9.5 Added 2001-10-22 This program is made for users who need to know what is going on within their systems. What it does is keep an eye on the files that you select, for "hot words" that you also select, all done through a graphical interface. You never have to touch a config file. When a "hot word" is found on the file being watched, the Main Window pops up to the front of your desktop. There is no restriction on the number of files or hot words. EXAMPLE: If you have ipchains to log all denied packets sent to you, you can add "/var/log/messages", with the word "Packet", so every intent of sending packets to denied ports will popup the window, and alert you. Kmap Added 2001-10-22 Kmap is a QT/KDE front-end to nmap, a popular and powerful console portscanner. Kmap allows quick and easy access to all of nmap's features, with much less hassle. Kmap also sorts the output from nmap into usable sections, so you easily extract the information you want. grabbb 0.0.7 Added 2001-10-22 grabbb is a very fast banner grabbing program, which will test an entire range of ip addresses on a single or multiple ports, and if successful it will capture the first line the remote daemon sends.
