It talks to the MTA via (E)SMTP or LMTP, or by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design, which could cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a central mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final delivery takes place. Ryan's Anti-Virus Recipe Added 2004-03-04 Ryan's Anti-Virus Recipe is a Procmail recipe that performs content-based (as opposed to signature-based) filtering for common email viruses using Procmail's scoring feature. Emails that are determined to contain viruses are stamped with a header indicating the name of the virus and are filtered into a user-specified quarantine folder. spasm anti-spam milter Added 2004-03-01 The spasm anti-spam milter is a spam filter for sendmail 8.12+ (with libmilter support). Current features include logging of rejected spam, fully virtualised settings for domains, individual whitelists, and over two dozen blacklist filters which can be set individually on a per-domain or per-email address basis (including local blacklist, rDNS resolution, HELO/EHLO verification, envelope sender address verification, numerous DNS-based lists, whitelist-only mode, tagging-only mode, and auto-blacklisting features). testmail Added 2004-03-01 testmail is a Perl script that checks email availability at the POP3 server, filters it according to defined rules, and--depending on the selected method--gets the messages to the local mailbox and/or removes it from the server. It uses Perl libnet module and helps you escape from spam. PMilter Added 2004-02-24 PMilter implements Sendmail's "milter" mail filtering protocol in Perl, allowing scripts direct access to the SMTP transaction in progress, rather than filtering later. It can function as a drop-in replacement for Sendmail::Milter, though PMilter does not require threads or the "libmilter" API to be available. BitDefender AntiVirus for qmail Added 2004-02-24 BitDefender for qmail is a powerful antivirus software for Linux mail servers, which provides proactive protection of message traffic at the email server level, eliminating the risk to the entire network that could be caused by a negligent user. All messages, both sent and received, are scanned in real time, avoiding the possible infections and preventing anyone from sending an infected message. BitDefender claims 100% detection rate for all viruses in the wild (ITW) through its powerful scanning engines certified by the most prestigious testing labs (ICSA in February 2003, Virus Bulletin 100% in June 2003 and CheckMark in August 2003). Animail Added 2004-02-24 Animail is a multiserver POP3/APOP/IMAP4Rev1 (with or without SSL) mail retrieval utility. It features an advanced filtering system based on blacklisting, whitelisting, or a combination of both. It is possible to send an autoresponse which prompts people to reply and add themselves to the 'autoaccept' file. It also allows filters based on a regular expression which matches against the email headers. (If a message is filtered, only the header is downloaded, not the entire body.) Animail also features download ordering options. For example, you can configure it to download the smaller messages first. Different delivery options are available, including mailbox, maildir, local SMTP, and pipe to command. IVS Milter Added 2004-02-18 IVS Milter is a virus, spam, and content milter. It makes use of the antivirus package ClamAV, and can also seamlessly integrate SpamAssassin (either spamc or libspamc). IVS Milter is also plugin based and currently supports virus scanning, spam scanning, content-type matching, attachment type matching, and attachment filename matching. MailStripper Pro (Linux x86) Added 2004-02-16 MailStripper Pro is a mail scanner that aims to remove spam and viruses from incoming mail using the F-Prot anti-virus. It is written in Tcl and was designed to be MTA-independent. Junk Mail Buffering Agent Added 2004-02-16 Junk Mail Buffering Agent is a tool for preventing delivery of email until the sender has confirmed his address. It is intended for use in conjunction with a spam filter to prevent delivery of suspected spam email messages unless the sender is confirmed as valid. Browse by category |
